My Story

Meet Kelci Smithmeyer

Hi! I'm Kelci Smithmeyer, founder of Back to Eden.

I'm a wife to the love of my life, a mom to two amazing kids, a dog mom to Ginger, and caretaker of five backyard ducks. Before becoming a holistic nutrition practitioner, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing, spent several years as a stay-at-home mom, and owned a successful cake decorating business.

You may be wondering...

"How does someone go from owning a cake business to holistic nutrition?"

Great question!

My Health Journey

For as long as I can remember, I struggled with my health. Beginning with migraines at just five years old, I eventually developed a long list of chronic symptoms, including:

  • Migraines and daily headaches

  • Severe IBS

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Muscle and joint pain

  • Rosacea

  • Heart palpitations

  • Anxiety

  • Hashimoto's

  • Anemia

  • Vascular problems

  • Mold toxicity

I spent years going from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist, undergoing countless tests in search of answers. Although I was offered medication after medication to manage my symptoms, no one could explain why I was sick—or how to truly get well. Instead of improving, my health continued to decline.

Finally, I decided enough was enough.

Finding the Root Cause

Working alongside incredible holistic and naturopathic practitioners, I discovered that many of my health challenges were connected to underlying root causes, including:

  • Nutrient deficiencies

  • Delayed food sensitivities

  • Gut infections

  • Systemic Candida overgrowth following repeated antibiotics and birth control use

  • Heavy metal toxicity

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Dental amalgam fillings

  • Even parasites

For the first time in my life, I learned something that changed everything:

The body was designed to heal—it simply needs the right conditions.

As I corrected nutrient deficiencies, removed inflammatory foods, restored my gut, and reduced my body's toxic burden, my health began to improve in ways I never thought possible.

Healing Goes Beyond Nutrition

One of the most unexpected parts of my healing journey had nothing to do with supplements or diet.

I realized that years of stress, fear, negative thought patterns, and unforgiveness were also affecting my health. As I surrendered those burdens to God, learned to forgive, and spent intentional time in prayer, Scripture, breathwork, and quiet worship, my healing accelerated in ways I can't fully explain.

Today, at 41 years old, I feel healthier than I ever have. I no longer live in fear of illness or disease, and I thank God every day for restoring my health.

The Bread Story

One of the biggest surprises on my journey was discovering fresh-milled bread.

After avoiding gluten for more than ten years, I assumed bread was simply something my body couldn't tolerate. Then I learned about milling organic whole grains at home.

Fresh-milled flour retains the natural vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and fiber that are largely lost in commercially processed flour. It completely changed the way I viewed bread.

While fresh-milled bread isn't the right choice for everyone, it reminded me that many modern foods are very different from the foods God originally created.

Why I Started Back to Eden

I truly believe God created our bodies with an incredible capacity to heal and placed many of the tools we need for wellness right here on earth—whole foods, herbs, nutrients, minerals, sunlight, and other gifts from creation.

After experiencing healing in my own life and watching these principles benefit my family, I knew I couldn't keep what I had learned to myself.

That's why I created Back to Eden.

My mission is to help others identify the root causes of their health concerns, restore gut and cellular health, reduce inflammation, and equip them with practical, natural strategies that support long-term healing—while honoring the body God designed.

If my story resonates with you, I'd love the opportunity to walk alongside you on your own healing journey.

Whether you meet with me in person or through Zoom, my goal is simple: to educate, encourage, and empower you to take back your health.

May God bless you with the health, hope, and freedom you deserve.

With love,

Kelci Smithmeyer
